Before her father filed for bankruptcy due to a significant loss in his business, Dara came from a prosperous family of businessmen. To start over, the family made the decision to relocate to Alabang, Muntinlupa, Philippines. Dara attended school in the Philippines. First, Dara made her film debut in 2004 with “Bcuz of U,” for which she received the Debutant of the Year award.
