Rickey Smiley, the popular entertainment host, was born on August 10, 1968, in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. His dad was James Smiley, and his mom was Carolita. Unfortunately, his father died when he was only seven years old. Rick has a sister named Karon Katiea Smiley-Dennis. He went to Woodlawn High School in Birmingham. Later, he started at Tuskegee University but left after a year. He then went to Alabama State University and got his B.A. in English in 1992 in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1993, he joined the Psi Rho Graduate Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in Holly Springs, Mississippi.

He started out doing comedy in small clubs and got noticed for his funny performances. In the early days, he was the host of BET’s ComicView show in 2000. He’s also performed on other popular comedy shows like Showtime at the Apollo, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, and Comic Escape.
Smiley performs as different funny characters in his comedy shows, like Bernice Jenkins, Rusty Dale, and Lil’ Daryl. He’s made eight popular comedy CDs, such as Prank Calls Vol. 6 and Open Casket Sharp.
He also put out some funny songs connected to his comedy sketches. One is called “Roll Tide,” where he plays a redneck character named Buford. Another is “We Miss Robert,” inspired by a skit where a friend raps at a drug dealer’s funeral.
