Zhou was born in Taizhou, Zhejiang, China, on December 16, 1998. Her mother’s name is Yang Bin Lin. While the information on other family members is unknown, she follows the Buddhist religion. Her ethnicity is Asian, and she is of Chinese nationality.
She studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music’s Affiliated Secondary School, where she focused on the pipa. Zhou moved to South Korea when Pledis Entertainment scouts found her in Shanghai in 2009. In 2017, she graduated with a degree in performing arts from the School of Performing Arts Seoul.

Career of Zhou
Zhou actively participated in Produce 101, a survival competition aired on Mnet from January 22 to April 1, 2016. Just Lim Na-young and Zhou from Pledis Entertainment completed the female group I.O.I.’s final lineup. And after five other competitors were eliminated. Zhou received 218,338 votes altogether, placing sixth.
Debut with Pristin in 2017
Zhou and Lim made their debut on March 21, 2017, with Pristin from Pledis Entertainment following the breakup of I.O.I. Pristin’s first mini album, Hey! Pristin, with the lead single “Wee Woo,” served as the group’s official track.
In January 2018, Zhou became a member of the dance coach team for the reality show program Idol Producer. Zhou, along with Nayoung, Roa, Eunwoo, and Rena, formed the Pristin subgroup known as Pristin V in May.
They made their debut on May 28th, 2018, with the album Like a V. “Leave It to Brother,” a soundtrack by Zhou for TV program I Got You, was released.
Zhou’s solo track “Why” made its debut on September 6 in China. Pledis Entertainment disclosed the release on August 31. The song premiered on iQiyi’s Idol Hits before Zhou performed it live for the first time as a solo artist.
Zhou’s acting debut was officially announced in October 2018, with the historical drama Miss Truth serving as the vehicle. On May 24, 2019, the city of Pristin was formally dissolved. Zhou announced his continued association with Pledis Entertainment. In 2020, Zhou portrayed the lead character in the Chinese drama Legend of Fei. In the February 15, 2021 release of To Be With You, she played the lead role.
To commemorate their fifth debut anniversary, she and the I.O.I members held a celebration livestream show on May 4, 2021, called “Yes, I Love It!”. Zhou appeared via video call to the I.O.I. members from China even though she wasn’t in Korea.
She played a lead role in the romantic drama Be My Princess, which premiered on iQiyi and Mango TV on March 16, 2022.
