Hediger, who celebrated her 26th birthday just over a week ago on December 14, was a rising star in snowboarding. She represented Switzerland at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, competing in the women’s snowboard cross and the mixed team event.
Her talent shone brightly during the 2023-24 season, earning her two World Cup podium finishes. In January 2023, she achieved her personal best by securing second place in St. Moritz.

On Monday, Grisons cantonal police reported a snowboarder’s death in an avalanche while backcountry skiing. Although the victim’s identity wasn’t initially disclosed, French news outlet Le Parisien later confirmed the tragedy involved Hediger.
Emergency responders located the snowboarder two hours after the first alert. Officials noted that recent heavy snowfall had heightened avalanche risks in the region. A police investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
