Masanobu Sato credits his imagination, training, and even his family’s DNA for his bizarre achievement.
The world of record-breaking stunts has no shortage of wild and wacky feats, but few are as jaw-dropping (or eyebrow-raising) as this one. Meet Masanobu Sato, the man who holds the title for the longest masturbation session, clocking in at a mind-blowing 9 hours and 58 minutes.
While Guinness World Records celebrates feats like eating over 34,000 Big Macs or hopping a bike onto a bar 14 times in a minute, they draw the line at certain types of records. Enter the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco, which gladly tracks more unconventional accomplishments—like Sato’s—at their annual Masturbate-a-thon fundraiser.

In 2009, Sato, who works for the sex toy company Tenga, arrived at the ninth Masturbate-a-thon fully prepared. Armed with a collection of masturbatory aids, he smashed his own previous record of 9 hours and 33 minutes, solidifying his place as the reigning champion of, well, stamina.
Speaking to Vice after the event, Sato revealed the secrets behind his success. “My abundant imagination was key to my triumph, firstly,” he said. But he didn’t just rely on mental tricks. “I trained a lot in Japan after my first win. I swam twice a week and gained five kilograms of muscle. That stamina helped me push through.”
Sato also credited the variety of sensations offered by his trusty Tenga toys. “Using different sensations was crucial. Without them, my d**k would’ve gone numb! I used as many as ten different ones to avoid it feeling the same for too long.”
And let’s not forget his genes. Sato even thanked his family for passing down some “special” DNA, which he believes played a part in his peculiar talent.

But Sato isn’t the only one with marathon-level self-love skills. In 2018, Drake Hardy claimed he had outlasted Sato with a personal record of 10 hours and 10 minutes.
“I knew I could beat it,” Hardy told Mel Magazine. “Actually, I’ve broken the record multiple times by myself, but without a witness. I mean, who doesn’t dream of being the best in the world at something?”
Hardy expressed interest in competing in the Masturbate-a-thon to make his record official. But it’s not just about bragging rights for him. He explained, “I want to inspire people to embrace sexual freedom and be open and honest about their experiences.”
At the moment, Sato’s record still stands. But who knows, it could be Hardy being inducted into the Center for Sex and Culture in the future. Until then, Sato’s name stands as a testament to human endurance, creativity, and a very niche kind of dedication.
