Harrowing Final words of ‘Grizzly Man’ before he and girlfriend were eaten alive by bear

In 2003, Timothy Treadwell, a passionate bear enthusiast, and his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard, met a tragic end when they were eaten alive by a bear in Alaska. The chilling final moments of their lives have since been revealed, providing a terrifying look at what happened in the hours leading up to their deaths.

Treadwell, originally from New York, had dedicated much of his life to living with bears. He became well-known for documenting his summers in Alaska’s Katmai National Park, where he lived among the grizzly bears. His fascination with these animals began when he was young, accompanying his family on camping trips to Alaska. Over the years, his love for bears grew stronger, and he often interacted closely with them, touching and playing with them. Eventually, he made the decision to live among the bears every summer.

Despite repeated warnings about the dangers, Treadwell continued his annual visits until 2003. It was then that he and Amie were tragically attacked by a bear, just hours before they were set to fly home. The attack was captured on audio, as the couple didn’t have time to remove the camera lens, leaving behind six long minutes of horrifying audio.

The Chilling Audio of Their Deaths

The audio begins with Amie asking if the bear is still nearby. Treadwell can then be heard screaming, “Get out here! I’m getting killed out here!” Amie rushes to help him, and the sound of the tent zipper is heard as she exits, telling him to “play dead.”

Amid frantic screaming, the audio captures the bear releasing its grip on Treadwell, allowing Amie to rush over to assist him. However, the bear quickly attacks again, this time biting down on Treadwell’s head. Desperate, Treadwell screams for Amie to “hit the bear.”

Amie encourages him to “fight back” as she attempts to defend him with a frying pan. After a series of screams, the recording ends, capturing the couple’s last moments.

The Discovery of Their Bodies

When Willy Fulton, the pilot scheduled to pick them up, landed at Katmai National Park, he immediately knew something was wrong. Normally, Treadwell and Amie would be waiting at the shore, but that day there was an unsettling silence. Instead, he found a bear standing on top of a pile of human remains.

The couple’s tent was found torn apart, and their unopened evening snack was nearby. Rangers discovered part of Treadwell’s head and other remains in a mound of grass, mud, and twigs about three feet high.

Treadwell’s life and tragic death were later documented in the 2005 film Grizzly Man, directed by Werner Herzog. The documentary explores his unique relationship with the bears and the devastating events that led to his and Amie’s deaths.
