She was born on 14 November 1979 in Berdyansk, a port city in Ukraine, which back then was a part of the Soviet Union. Her father Konstantin Kurylenko, hails from Ukraine, whereas her mother, Marina Alyabusheva exhibited an artist from Irkutsk Oblast, Russia. When Kurylenko was three years of age, her parents divorced, and she was mainly brought up by her mother.

Olga Kurylenko began her career at 15 years of age when she went to Moscow. She went to Paris where she enrolled with the Madison modeling agency.
